Research projects within the Center for Conservation
Biology often include temporary positions for field technicians.
On average, the Center has 10-15 such positions each year. Spring
and summer tend to be the seasons with the greatest amount of research
activity followed by fall. The duration of these positions range
from a few days to several months depending on project objectives.
The skills that applicants should possess vary with projects, but
may include bird identification by sight and sound, radio telemetry,
bird trapping and handling, bird banding, data management, etc.
Regardless of the project, all applicants should be quick learners,
work independently, keep accurate field records, and maintain a
good attitude under difficult field conditions. Compensation for
technicians usually includes a modest salary, housing, and work
related mileage reimbursement. Job announcements will be posted
on this site.
