Origin: James River Bridge

Parents: The adult pair nesting on the James River Bridge is Virginia and James. Both of these birds originated from the Leg-Mason building (formerly the USF&G building) in Baltimore Maryland. Virginia was hatched in 1989 and James in 1990. James was first observed on the James River Bridge in 1992. Virginia appeared in 1993 and the pair nested for the first time in that year.
Hatching Date: Chesapeake hatched on approximately April 15, 2002.
Brood Info: Virginia laid 5 eggs in 2002 only 3 of which hatched. An additional chick was added to the brood by researchers from a nearby territory. Nest mates included 1 male and 2 females.
Relocation: Chesapeake was relocated to the Hawksbill hack site in Shenandoah National Park on May 20, 2002.
