Chat Room Rules

Welcome to the Richmond Eagle's Nest Chat Room! While you are here, we ask that you abide by this straightforward, common-sense set of rules. Your comments will be removed from the chat if you abuse these rules.

Above all, we will respect each other. Be considerate and polite to others. This doesn't mean we won't have differing opinions; it means we will try to disagree without being disagreeable. The chat room is a diverse group, made up of people of all ages, beliefs, and lifestyles. So remember – no personal attacks, insults, or name-calling. Please respect the personal privacy of yourself and others in the chat room. It is not a good idea to share phone numbers, email addresses or other personal information in this or any other chat room.

Links can only be posted by moderators. This keeps the chat safe for our viewers and keeps the discussion on eagles.

If a classroom joins the chat, we may put the chat room on pause to answer the children's questions.

In the chat room it is not appropriate to discuss religion, politics, sexual orientation or use profanities. It is also not the place to advertise, promote, recruit, solicit, or campaign. Remember this chat room is viewed by children's classrooms.

This is a place for learning about eagles, particularly the eagles in this nest. Posts that disrupt the conversation (in particular strings of nonsense characters or posts in all caps) will be removed at the Moderators' discretion. We will use our best judgement for the situation.

Please – no obscenities. Remember there may be "little ears" listening to our chat, and we want everyone to feel comfortable here. Language that you use in everyday conversation may be objectionable to some others, so think about it before you write it in the chat.

If you want to have a personal conversation with someone, please use PM (private message) for your conversation. (If you click on a person's name, there is a link for sending private messages to that guest.) Please don't abuse this feature.

Private messages are truly private. So, if you receive an inappropriate PM, copy and paste it into a message to a chat moderator. We will deal with it as promptly and as vigorously as we can. Remember, YOU are under no obligation to respond to unwanted PM's! Your mom and dad were right about "don't talk to strangers." Use your best judgment.

Do not "feed" the trolls. Your reaction to them is exactly what they want. Please let us deal with the trolls. If you engage a troll in chat, then we will remove both the troll's comments and yours.

You are solely responsible for the content you post. Richmond Mom and Richmond Dad are not responsible for the content posted by their viewers. They are eagles, and are more concerned with their eaglets!
